On-Going Opportunities and Ministries at Calvary

Opportunities at Calvary:  During the year Calvary offers a variety of events, some ongoing and some one time opportunities.  We invite our visitors, friends and new members to find something special in which to participate.  Perhaps you have an event to add to our calendar or a class or group that you would like to start.  We would be delighted to help in any way we can.

Calvary Church Prayer Group ~ 11:00 AM each Saturday Morning: located in the small meeting room across from the church office in Harris Hall.  Members of the church and others with a concern for the welfare of the church are welcome to join the Group.  Typically the meetings last for one hour.  We offer God praise, and seek His forgiveness for individual sin and the sins of the church.  Prayer requests are honored from any source.  We knows that prayer makes a difference.  Each week we recount the blessings of answered prayer and rejoice that God has given us this mighty privilege as Christians.

Wednesday Night Dinners:  Each Wednesday evening at 6:30 we gather for a catered dinner and fellowship in Harris Hall, our Grant Street building.  The cost is $5.00, and we ask that reservations be made through the church office, 703-892-5185, by 1:00 PM the day of the dinner.  The menu for Wednesday, September 1st is shish kabob.  We offer a fun evening of fellowship with friends and neighbors and a delicious dinner at a reasonable price.  Join us!

Prayer Shawl Ministry:  The women of Calvary have developed a wonderful prayer shawl ministry.  These hand made shawls are given to those members and friends who are ill or unable to join us in worship.  If you know someone who would benefit and be blessed by such a gift please contact Molly Sessions at 703-271-0753 or

Wounded Soldiers' Ministry:  The last Saturday of each month Calvary people drive to Andrews AFB to drop off items for incoming WOUNDED SOLDIERS.  These American heroes arrive without any of their gear, and there is a great need for toiletries (travel size), flip-flops (men's sizes) Gatorade, Bottled Water, T-shirts & Phone Cards.  Please help by bringing needed items to Calvary and placing them in designated boxes in Harris Hall by 9:00 AM on the last Saturday of each month.  If you have questions or can help with driving some time in the future contact Bob Weick at 571-276-2184 or .

Children and Youth Ongoing Opportunities:  Each Sunday, we offer nursery and Sunday School during the 8:30 service, children's choir at 9:30, Sunday School for all ages at 9:45, and Children's Church and Student Worship at 11:00 AM.  The Youth Handbell choir meets at 12:30, and Youth Group meets most Sundays at 6:00 PM.  Please contact Beth Posey ( or 703-892-4112) for more information.
